I enjoyed meeting with artist Georgia Henkel this morning. We had a coffee, discussed her work and closing reception for her show next week. Of our featured artists,Georgia's show has generated the most talk in the shop. Watching the responses and joining in discussions keep things lively at Mulberry & Lime. If you have the opportunity, please come in and see the show.
Fall Planting indoors and out!
We received our fall delivery of dutch bulbs! Amaryllis and paperwhites ready for indoor forcing. This year we decided to go with all top size bulbs, 40-42cm, this number corresponds with the circumference of the bulb. By paying a little more for the bulb we can expect these beauties to produce 3-4 stalks with four flowers each. Bloom time can stretch all the way to spring when we can enjoy blooms in the garden.
When choosing your bulbs, make sure bulb is firm. If you see a flower bud on the bulb, you are that much closer to enjoying the bloom. I prefer planting my bulbs in soil, I think they have a better foundation for heavy blooms and I love dressing the pot with moss from the garden.
Make sure you water more often once bulb is in flower and enjoy for weeks on end!
Look for White Christmas, Vera and Red Lion at Mulberry & Lime. We can pot up, your container or ours, or DIY. Great for all our winter holidays!
Cottimaryanne
I had to share this special pair of pillowcases that we received. The Cotti family (mother's name, Maryanne)of Florence, Italy have an incredible custom house for linens.
This set we designed with our customer. The base fabric is a soft cotton sateen, 400TC, who's counting, the Italians don't, it is all in the hand. The 5 stitch embroidery we selected from an Italian thread card with over 100 different colors. Pale rose sateen with deep rose, ivory and coppery beige, Bellissimo!
